When I looked at the classic layout I saw images on a neutral background. On the new layout I see a blindingly bright grid that, on careful inspection, appears to have images embedded in it. It's difficult to make out details in these images, especially the low key ones. Perhaps if I looked at the websight in the default view of one image at a time it would be a bit easier to appreciate details in each image. The problem is I don't find every image 1X publishes to be a masterpiece that deserves my careful scrutiny. Since the new layout I haven't spent more than a few minutes at time on the website and have clicked on very few images. Anybody know a good altenative to 1X?
Before you begin searching for alternative websites you should make yourself familiar with all the new functionalities of the new 1x design. Choose DARKMODE in your personal settings and you'll get the same dark background as in the classic version.
The only good alternative to 1x is the 1x Classic Version, Mike.
Best regards to all.

It was a perfect site for graphics, intuitiveness, fluency, easy to use... unfortunately it isn't anymore.

Thank you, Joe ! Have a nice day.
I had 1X Classic bookmarked and it took me to the blindingly bright new version. A google search for "1x Classic" took me there as well. And I don't want to have to log in every time just to get to dark mode. I've also just discovered I can't right click and open a large version of an image in a seperate tab. I also can't right click on a photographer's name and open their portfolios in a seperate tab. And once I do open their portfolio, I have to wait for larger versions of the images to load instead of having the option of a thumbnail gallery. Do any of you remember the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth and people put film in their cameras? Your first approach to a photo editor was contact sheets - you didn't wheel in a container of large prints. There was a reason for that. There may be brilliant new functionalities in the new design, but these recent changes to the website have made it harder to look at and more cumbersome and time consuming to use. In effect, it fails at it's primary functionality.
Hello
Like Hans Martin Doelz pointed out, you can enable "Dark mode" in settings.
