Where did all the congratulations go?
#OFF TOPIC

I saw a bunch of very good photos just a few minutes before writing this post, so I decided to comment and congratulate the photographers.

When I did that, I noticed that very good photos that had been posted for a week or more, had only 4-5 congratulatory comments. This is way less than a couple of years ago, when there were at least 2-3 times as many comments.

Any ideas about why there is a difference in the number of congratulations? I still see a lot of good photographs being uploaded by the photographers I am following.

Were they unknowns?...were they really different and unique? Maybe the "I phone" has turned everyone into a photographer....I have to admit that I personally do not congratulate every shot, when they fundamentally look like many other.s...photo fatigue? The quality of 1x is sublime for the most part and the competition for notice is acute...not everyone congratulates on published photos either. "Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder"...

I do not believe there is photo fatigue per sé, but if many shots are similar, there is a lack of originality.

Repetition is useful to build technical skill, but it is variation and novelty that generates interest.

The most likely explanation for a reduced number of comments, is reduced interest, because of a lack of variation and novelty.

This can be fixed, if there is interest in fixing it.

If we consider the site as a small country, with the president, the administration, security, ministry and other people, then on all the questions, in particular the efficiency of management, the activity of the general population, you can find your own answers. All is learned in the development. Dialectic has nobody canceled.
