All the cool kids have cover photos for their groups and we'd better follow this trend!. Does anyone have a suitable photo? Maybe we can collect options in this thread and see what resonates with people. Cover photos need to be 1200x250 pixels.

Fresh, Martin fresh, and 1200x250? Hm-m-m-m, where is my folder with those specifications again ;-) ?

 

P.S. I hope we'll have a few days. Our Easter is this Sunday, quite busy now, and I so want to try to participate.

How about a triptych or some collage of the previous week's selections?

perhaps it's a great idea to think about how they need to be submitted ?

I like Clyde's Idea of triptych very much.

 

And it could be easily accomplished with less work for you...if we had a picture that looks like this with a logo. Our logo would be much smaller of course and neutral. This picture would be in the 1200 x 250 pixel size that you would have on your computer.

Then..

Each week or whatever time frame you wanted, you could just choose three photos - take screen shots- reduce them and drag them over to the picture with the logo. You could put them all in a line or make whatever shape you wanted to...Presto - upload...

 

The advantages are that it is a bit different, more than one photo represents the group, and it can be changed when you have the time.

 

Probably most important it is easier for you because you can skip steps. You do not have to communicate that you need photos in that strange size, wait for them via email and then upload. Once the picture is done...you just need to add & change photos on your computer - at your own discretion.

 

Clyde if Martin liks the idea would you be willing to design the logo...it could simple ...like just using the word FRESH...or something from you bag of design magic.

Is this asking too much of you Clyde? We could all try if it is...but I do think you have the talents to do it expertly...

Anna, I am in no particular rush to get this done. After all we made it though a whole week without a cover photo already :) Take your time.

 

Clyde and Phyllis, I like your ideas! Would you consider making a logo, Clyde? I know it is work and that your plate is full, so don't feel like you have to agree to this harebrained scheme. It would be pretty cool to have a professional logo, though :)

 

I am somewhat reluctant to just grab people's pictures without explicit permission. Maybe it is better to have them emailed to me, or am I over thinking this?

 

If you want to email me something, please use my public email address. It is my the first letter of my first name followed by my last name @sbcglobal.net. Let's limit this to images that have been submitted here to keep the banner image relevant to the group. I'll make a banner of some or all of the images that come in and change it periodically.

So Clyde has made us a lovely banner. It uses all the images that were selected for Batch 1. Are all the photographers OK with this use of their work?

Ok, my fellow Gremmlins. I just want to clarify that Clyde made the banner literally overnight. I have been delinquent in acting on it due unexpected travel.

Scratching my head but foreseeing some non-trivial future for this :-)

Years ago there was a film called the Gremlins - it was a horror - comedy...it really was quite funny...The little Gremlins were adorable to look at - initially - but turned nasty at times; but it was all in fun...

OK guys!! Don't get too excited...it's pretty simple and focuses mostly on the selected photos. Developing a more designed logo is not in my available time right now and maybe not really needed. But that's up to Martin.
