Hi All,
Would like your opinion about my recent pic that I clicked near a beach. My main intention is to capture the natural patterns that are formed by the outgoing waves on the shore. I have seen some spectacular patterns so wanted to capture a few.
Please share your valuable
feedback. Thank you.
Rahul,
Thanks for publishing this image.
The patterns make for a very interesting subject. However, that beach segment at the bottom-center grabs our eye and pulls it away from the patterns.
There are a couple of things I would suggest. First, I would crop out the bottom portion so that you only have that "ring" of rock. Using the transform tool I made up for that lost area by stretching the cropped photo vertically.
In terms of processing I boosted the contrast and texture in Adobel Camera Raw and toned down the highlight on the right using a Curves adjustment in Photoshop. An example of what I'm talking about is shown below. The aim of all this is to focus all the attention on the patterns and to make them more visible.
This is of course just my personal opinion, I hope it helps. In the end it your opinion as the photographer that matters.
Best wishes,

Rahul Welcome to critique as always we try to give you some feedback on your fine image - just how we see it - In other words it's just the view of one photographer in this case it's me.
Your image - I think I like it the other way up - These type of images need to look right to work and stand out above all others it's not an easy subject. - See Attached and let me tell you what I wanted from your fine image. - As you can see I've done quite a heavy crop as to zoom in on the best bits in my view - Next I added contrast with Nik Tools Tonal Contrast - Then Monochrome makeover with Nik tools Silver Efx Pro 3 - Fine Art Preset with a little extra stucture - Add a little bun here and there - Thank you for sharing - it gives you some ideas to have a play with...please lets us know what you think good or bad...
Thank you both for a wonderful insight into the image and the suggested corrections. It really helps a lot. 😀👏
